The EEB and Friends of the Earth Europe are glad to invite you to the Report launch: Green mining’ is a myth: the case for cutting EU resource consumption.
The mining and use of metals and minerals have come under the political spotlight. The demand for many metals is predicted to rapidly increase under the EU’s twin green and digital transition plans.
But how do we avoid a new rush on mining and further resource grabs? Can mining really be green? How is the EU’s material overconsumption and growth-based economic model playing a role in this? What are the real impacts of increasing mining on people and the planet? Can we ensure a future with less mining?
Come find out the report’s key findings and join a lively debate, moderated by EU policy expert and journalist Jennifer Baker, between report authors, members of the European Commission, the European Parliament, and one of the many grassroots citizen movements against a proposed lithium mine in Northern Portugal.
