Regional Consultation Meeting for the European Region

The UN Environment Assembly is the highest decision-making on environmental matters globally. UNEA 6 will take place at UNEP Headquarter in Nairobi from 26 February to 1 March 2023.  The tentative consolidated proposal from the UNEA Presidency on the UNEA-6 theme is: “Environmental multilateralism for future solutions to address climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution and to achieve a clean, healthy and sustainable environment”. The UNEA Bureau will take a final decision on the theme of UNEA 6 at its meeting on 30 January 2023. Major Groups and Stakeholders accredited to UNEP are invited to provide any comments and proposals on the UNEA theme by 25 January 2023.

Objective of the consultation:

  • presentation of the (new) Regional Facilitators.
  • stakeholders learn about the proposed UNEA 6 theme.
  • stakeholders discuss and agree on comments and proposals
    regarding the theme to be submitted on behalf of the region to UNEP.
