This event organized by the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and the Climate Action Network(CAN) Europe aims to trigger an exchange with different perspectives across political parties.

Against the background of a profoundly changed macroeconomic and social context, the European Commission is re-launching the review of the economic and fiscal governance, the Stability and Growth Pact and rules coordinating national fiscal and economic policies.

The Commission has invited citizens and institutions to engage in a debate to provide their views on how the framew.ork has functioned so far and on possible ways to enhance its effectiveness and legitimacy.

This is an opportunity to ensure that European economic policies in the next decade enable and incentivise the just transformation of our economies and societies towards decarbonisation and nature protection. We need an economic governance framework that is able to address 21 st century challenges and unleash the just transition.
