EEB, ClientEarth, Research Group Sofia and the Rethink Plastic alliance (RPa) have together prepared a report on the SCIP database, i.e. the database established under the Waste Framework Directive on “Substances of Concern In articles as such or in complex objects (Products)”. Drawing from the experience of the different SCIP users waste operators, downstream users, NGOs and academia, the report points to an overall lack of availability, accessibility and quality of data on Substances of Concern in products.

The authors of the report will present its main findings. Next, co-host ECOS will explain links to the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) currently at trilogue stage. A subsequent discussion aims to find ways how EU law can strengthen transparency and traceability of chemicals in products.
