Press Conference: Beyond Net-zero emission in agriculture – creating an enabling climate governance for agriculture – 6 July – Online

Tuesday 6 July, 14:00-15:30 CEST

On the 14th of July, the European Commission is expected to publish its Fit for 55 Package that should enable the EU to be on the right track to reach climate neutrality by 2050. Ahead of this publication, the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) will launch on the 6th of July its policy paper and study “Beyond Net-zero emission in agriculture – creating an enabling climate governance for agriculture”.

Our study consists of an EEB climate pathway for agriculture for 2030 and 2050, in the light of achieving the new EU’s climate ambitions. The pathway has been developed using the ARISE (AgRIculture and food SystEminteractive) model. ARISE intends to provide means for its users, whether they are academics, policymakers, or civil societies, to investigate and assess how and to which extent key factors can influence the sustainability of the European food and agriculture pathways.

During the press conference, we will present you the results of our study as well as our policy recommendations to the European Commission concerning the role and place of agriculture in the Fit for 55 Package.
