A Protein Shift for a Resilient Future: Depolarising the Debate

Copenhagen and Online, 26 May 2025

Ahead of the Danish Presidency of the EU starting in July 2025, this event will bring together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to look at how Europe can support fair protein diversification that works for people, nature and animals. With insights from the Danish experience, we’ll explore how building on close stakeholder collaboration and enabling the shift to healthier diets can help us shape a more resilient food system which nourishes people and protects our health while respecting the limits of our planet.
To ensure our long-term food security and strategic autonomy, we must close nutrient cycles, protect air and water quality, tackle external dependencies and solve the epidemic of non-communicable diseases linked to poor eating habits.
Europe has a vital role to play in seizing the enormous opportunities offered by protein diversification for our health, livelihoods and the environment on which we depend.
