In this joint letter, signed by the EEB alongside 11 other NGOs, we stress the urgent need for the European Commission to do more to ensure our food systems become truly sustainable. Systemic change in this area must encompass the whole system, from production to consumption.
On the consumption side, we know that people want to support this shift, but structural barriers – in particular in the form of prevailing ‘food environments’ – are blocking the full potential that this represents. We must address food environments to ensure that healthy and sustainable food is the easiest choice for consumers.
