Big cities phase out fossil heating: the case of New York City
14 June 2022 | 16:00 – 17:00
“Cities drive climate change, and can provide a solution” (IPCC 6th Assessement)
The decarbonisation of densely populated areas is one of the greatest challenges of our time. And it is right there where victory is much-needed in our fight against climate change.
To reach that goal, we need to deeply renovate a large number of buildings in a relatively short time, by unleashing the great potential embedded in cities to mitigate the effects of climate change.
This can be achieved through an appropriate mix of policies and technological solutions.
In this webinar we discover how NYC and the wider State of New York are equipping themselves to overcome the challenge of decarbonising the largest source of their emission: buildings.
This is the second webinar of a series touching on policy-making and technological best practices from both USA and EU that can be of inspiration for both sides of the Atlantic.
