This paper aims to explain the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) method in general terms, as well as its application during the current development of the PEFCR (Category Rules) for Apparel and Footwear. The purpose of this paper is to summarise a technical topic for non-experts on Life-Cycle Assessment (LCA). It is addressed to a general audience and NGOs with interest in the topic. The paper is produced by Eunomia Research & Consulting and funded directly by the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) to provide independent support for its involvement in the PEFCR stakeholder engagement process.
A letter by civil society organisations was sent to the European Commission today to express concerns about the PEF method.
