Despite some improvements, water pollution remains a key environmental challenge across the EU.
Last October, the European Commission presented its proposal to update the lists of priority substances and groundwater pollutants and their associated legal threshold values. As discussions on the file continue in the European Parliament, the EEB together with PAN Europe and Surfrider Foundation Europe organised a conference hosted by MEP Milan Brglez (S&D) to share expertise and views on the topic of aquatic toxicity, the importance of the polluter pays principle and the value of implementing coherent rules around water monitoring.
The interventions and key messages are summed up in this event report.
