The harassment of environmental defenders in the EU – a case study report
This harassment of environmental defenders is considered a large issue across the globe.
This study, conducted by EEB members Justice and Environment, was designed with the goal of documenting and analysing the harassment of environmental defenders in the European Union.
It found that harassment is growing across the studied states and much of it remains without punishment or legal resolution.
However, environmental defenders remain absolute in their activism. The main challenge is therefore protecting the environmental defenders from harassment and protecting their rights to remedies for environmental issues.
