The Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) is a unique global strategy focusing on creating a world where chemicals are no longer produced or used in ways that they harm human health and the environment. However, the SAICM 2020 goal has not been achieved while the annual production of chemicals is increasing at a rampant pace and, with it, the harmful pollution. This paper signed by twenty NGOs, including the EEB, reflects the significance of achieving UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through a robust policy framework grounded in strong principles such as the precautionary principle, the right to know, human rights, transparency etc.
