Buildings are central to some of the biggest challenges Europeans experience, including rising energy bills, air pollution, finding an affordable home to live in, and homelessness. Yet, it is overlooked as one of the keys to unlocking the solutions that will tackle these crises.
As a coalition of civil society, NGOs, trade unions, local governments, and business representatives, the EEB and 16 other organisations call for the appointment of a Commissioner for Housing and the Built Environment. Only a portfolio responsible for housing and the built environment can champion the social justice and climate sustainability that Europeans need.
