This document – signed by the EEB and 22 health and other environmental NGOs and addressed to Frans Timmermans, the First Vice President of the European Commission and other Commissioners – welcomes the EC’s initiative to reform EU’s flagship chemicals regulations REACH and CLP and highlights the need to: improve the identification and risk management of hazardous chemicals by updating the information requirements on chemicals, facilitate the gradual transition to non-animal testing in the future and further improve the protection of people and the environment and reduce animal studies by applying the precautionary approach when regulating chemicals.
