With this letter, the EEB aims to draw the European Commission’s attention to the main shortcomings encountered when requesting information about abstraction and consumption volumes, emissions to water and other relevant parameters on coal/lignite mines and Large Combustion Plants. Unfortunately, our experience in requesting information from Member States points to a systematic failure in ensuring public access to key environmental information at the EU level. We kindly requested the European Commission to take remediation measures and policy interventions. Attached is also their response to our letter.
