Together with other organisations, the EEB calls on the Coreper I Deputy Representatives to reject proposals that would further weaken the Commission’s initiative to update the lists of priority pollutants for surface water and groundwater. We would like to underline the importance of resisting attempts to use the ongoing limited update of chemical aspects to make significant changes to the basic principles of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). Such changes could undermine the WFD Fitness Check assessment and lead to delays in efforts to tackle water pollution.
