This joint letter from ClientEarth and the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) to the European Commission addresses the ongoing revision of the guidelines on State Aid for climate, environmental protection and energy (the CEEAG).

The letter presents that state air policy must integrate environmental protection and be aligned with the climate and environmental protection objectives of the European Green Deal, the Zero Pollution objective and the Polluter Pays
Principle. The Union agreed to transition to a sustainable Europe that achieves climate neutrality by 2050 and put citizens at its core, however this transition will not happen with undue State aid to selected undertakings that go counter those objectives.
