Joint letter on the need for a strong framework on sustainable food systems
This joint letter, signed by the EEB and 285 partner organisations across Europe, urges European Commission President von der Leyen to commit to this Commission’s legislative timeframe and ensure that the proposal for the EU framework on sustainable food systems (SFS) is published by September 2023.
Though some actors are instrumentalising current geopolitical contexts to discredit the Farm to Fork Strategy and dilute its ambitions, we need transformation in this sector now more than ever. The SFS Law offers a unique opportunity to ensure a comprehensive rollout of truly sustainable food systems that respect nature, protect people’s health and meaningfully address the climate emergency we are all facing.
