This document outlines the EEB’s input to the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council Meeting, Brussels, 27 May, 2024. It specifically includes our position on the following issues based on the Council’s agenda that outlines a focus on both the state of EU agriculture and the subject of large carnivores in Europe:

  1.  The reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), the removal of environmental safeguards and the undemocratic approach that characterised this process
  2.  The EEA’s new EU Climate Risk Assessment (EUCRA) and its implications for food and farming systems
  3.  Our vision for a Common Agricultural, Food, and Land Stewardship Policy (CAFLSP) and EEB’s joint science-based recommendations for a future of truly sustainable farming
  4.  EU animal welfare and the urgent need for revision of existing legislation
  5.  Protection of the wolf in Europe
