This briefing – prepared in collaboration with Finance Watch, CAN Europe, WWF Europe, Greentervention, Positive Money Europe and Fondation Nicolas Hulot – welcomes the proposal by the European Commission’s President-elect Ursula von der Leyen for an ambitious European Green Deal and calls on the EU officials to equip the proposal with an ambitious and coherent financing framework.
We believe that an ambitious Green Deal is feasible in the short-term – but only if the European Commission can succeed in overhauling the conditions for both private and public financing.
