First assessment of the EU’s 2021 Adaptation Strategy – EEB

On 24 February 2021, the European Commission adopted a new EU Strategy on Adaptation to Climate Change, with the objective of setting out the pathway to prepare for the unavoidable impacts of climate change. While the Strategy offers some good language on several important areas, it generally lacks targets, enforcement measures and a timeline.
