Food security, food safety and access to healthy food in Europe are all attainable, but not under the current food system. The industrialisation, hyper-globalisation and monopolisation that underpin the current system make it a self-defeating structure, driving deforestation, species extinction, health crises, soil depletion and climate breakdown.
This report outlines the EEB’s position on the EU Sustainable Food Systems Law framework, and makes recommendations for how we can bring about a truly sustainable food system that benefits people’s health, public health, biodiversity welfare and future food security.
