In 2021, while the urgency of Covid-19 changed many priorities, the European Green Deal (EGD) stayed at the core of the EU agenda, indeed becoming recognised as an essential blueprint to help build back better, with legislation complemented by new funding. The EEB fought hard for the EGD to be a transformative flagship of the EU, continuously participated in legislative processes, and argued for need climate and environmental funding. EEB represented the values and insights of its members and worked with  decision-makers and the EU Presidencies to hold them accountable to the EGD commitments, environmental ambition and citizens’ needs.

We ended 2021 with 171 members across 36 countries who played a fundamental role in forming and supporting our policy goals and shaping our strategic vision.
