The EEB welcomes the contribution from business group Digital Europe to the debate on ‘the Circular Economy and the Digital Industry’, as presented in their paper “The Contribution of the Digital Industry in a Circular Economy” in May 2017. We are glad to see examples of ways in which the digital industry attempts to boost recycling. However, we would like to complement this paper with additional perspectives, and challenge Digital Europe‘s conclusions with regard to policy options. Much more needs to be done if we are to close the loop of our economy.
