In this joint letter to the European Commission, environmental organisations express strong opposition to postponing the introduction of the ETS2 — the EU’s carbon market for buildings and road transport.
The signatories argue that any delay or weakening of the Market Stability Reserve (MSR2) would undermine the integrity of the Fit for 55 package, increase emissions, and jeopardise climate investments. They call on the Commission to uphold environmental ambition, ensure transparent impact assessments, and remind Member States of their responsibility to deliver socially fair and effective decarbonisation through complementary national measures.
