Joint letter on the revision of the Free Allocation Regulation
Following the review of the EU Emission Trading System, the European Commission has been tasked to review the rules to assign free allowances to the industrial sectors covered by the EU ETS. The Commission proposal maintains the status quo, failing to apply the “one product, one benchmark” principle, establish fair competition across the different steel manufacturing routes and promote the role of secondary steel to decarbonise steel production.
