
On March 4, the European Commission put forward a proposal for a new Climate Law which will guide Europe’s efforts to achieve climate neutrality as part of the European Green Deal.
While welcoming several aspects of the proposed regulation, the EEB believes that it is not yet fit for purpose and has highlighted several areas where legal provisions must be clarified and strengthened to drastically reduce and avoid greenhouse gas emissions.
In this document, we respond to a public consultation launched by the Commission on the proposed Climate Law, highlighting areas in which more ambition is needed.
