Joint statement to support an ambitious revision of the Ecodesign regulations for solid fuel heating
In January 2025, the European Commission proposed stricter ecodesign rules for solid fuel local heaters and boilers to boost energy efficiency and cut harmful emissions. However, industry pressure and opposition from some MEPs stalled the process, delaying key stakeholder consultations and risking weaker standards.
This pause threatens public health, climate goals, and faster heating electrification. Ambitious revisions are crucial to secure cleaner air, reduce emissions, and save public health costs across the EU.
