The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has published in spring 2023 the dossier on the universal restriction of PFAS (uPFAS), which proposes a comprehensive ban on the production, use and placing on the market of PFAS in Europe. The restriction proposals are subject to a six-month consultation for everyone, and the one on the uPFAS restriction ends on September 25. EEB has now submitted this first contribution on PFAS hazards, legal aspects of restriction, fluoropolymers and end-of-life risks. Further contributions will follow, with the aim of supporting an ambitious restriction of all PFAS.
