The EEB’s contribution to the European Bureau for Research on Industrial Transformation and Emissions (EU-BRITE) consultation on the revision of the Best Available Techniques (BAT) Reference Document (BREF) for Iron and Steel Production. The response sets out recommendations to strengthen the environmental performance of Europe’s iron and steel sector under the revised Industrial Emissions Directive (IED), ensuring that updated BAT conclusions reflect the best available technologies and practices for reducing pollution, improving resource efficiency and accelerating the transition to near-zero emission steel production.
