EEB input to the EU Environment Council Meeting, Brussels, 20 December 2022

In this letter, the EEB provided input to the EU Environment Council Meeting, Brussels, 20 December 2022, addressing all Environment Ministers of EU Member States, the Commission President, Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal and Commissioners for Environment, Transport, Energy, Industry, Agriculture, Health and Food Safety, and the Chair of the European Parliament Environment Committee.

The EEB’s demands come structured according to our understanding of the 20 December Council Agenda, i.e., under the following headlines:

  2. Regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases
  3. Revision of Directive 2010/75/EU on industrial emissions and Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste
  4. Regulation on shipments of waste
  5. Zero pollution: Directive on air quality
  6. Zero pollution: Directive on priority substances in surface and ground water
  7. Zero pollution: Review of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive
  8. Directive on the substantiation of green claims
  9. Revision of the Directive on Packaging and Packaging Waste
  10. Regulation on carbon removals certification
  11. Reports on main international meetings: COP27
  12. Reports on main international meetings: INC-1 Plastics treaty
  13. Reports on main international meetings: Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) COP 15
  14. Implementation of the EU’s Biodiversity Strategy for 2030
