The EU’s Restrictions Roadmap, launched in 2022 to phase out some of the most hazardous chemicals, has made very limited progress four years on despite clear deadlines and unanimous political backing. The Restrictions Roadblock report, by the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and ClientEarth, finds significant delays in restricting substances such as PFAS, bisphenols, flame retardants, and PVC, pointing to regulatory inaction and industry pressure as key factors contributing to ongoing chemical pollution and concerns over compliance with EU law.
