Council Presidencies and Configurations<\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

To make sure the environment makes <\/span>is a <\/span>top<\/span> political priorit<\/span>y<\/span>, the EEB<\/span> engages with the EU institutions: the Presidencies of the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, European <\/span>Parliament<\/span> and other agencies. Shaping the work programme of each Council Presidency and ensuring that environmental files progress is at the heart of our high-level engagement with European institutions. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

At the outset of<\/span> every presidency trio, the EEB presents <\/span><\/span>a<\/span><\/span><\/span>n overarching<\/span><\/span> memorandum<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> to the three governments taking over the Presidency of the Council <\/span>to highlight the environmental files that they must advance during their leadership. <\/span>In addition, <\/span>the EEB present<\/span>s<\/span> <\/span>an individual memorand<\/span>um<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> including<\/span> 10 Green Test<\/span>s <\/span>\u2013<\/span> a set of <\/span>environmental benchmarks t<\/span>o live up to<\/span> \u2013<\/span> for <\/span>each new<\/span> presiding government<\/span>. <\/span>The EEB engages with representatives of each presidency and organise<\/span>s<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/span> together with the Green 10<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span><\/span> a reception with <\/span>each government\u2019s <\/span>Environment Ministry. After each presidency, the EEB presents <\/span><\/span>a thorough assessment of what has been achieved<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a> based on the <\/span>10 Green Tests set out at the beginning of the presidency<\/span> and what <\/span><\/span>remains<\/span><\/span><\/span> on the agenda<\/span>. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
