{"id":104500,"date":"2021-06-17T12:42:16","date_gmt":"2021-06-17T10:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/?post_type=library&#038;p=104500"},"modified":"2021-06-17T12:45:55","modified_gmt":"2021-06-17T10:45:55","slug":"european-civil-society-gas-manifesto-eu-must-deliver-a-fossil-gas-phase-out-in-europe-by-2035","status":"publish","type":"library","link":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/hr\/library\/european-civil-society-gas-manifesto-eu-must-deliver-a-fossil-gas-phase-out-in-europe-by-2035\/","title":{"rendered":"European Civil Society Gas Manifesto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">20 European climate and energy civil society organisations and networks have signed a fossil gas manifesto asking EU policy-makers to ultimately <strong>deliver a fossil gas phase out in Europe by 2035<\/strong>, calling for an immediate end of fossil gas subsidies and ensuring that public funding is available to support people and companies to move away from fossil gas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>manifesto<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which is composed of seven points, is also conceived to counter the widespread, misleading industry narrative that fossil gas is \u2018natural\u2019 and that it is needed as a transitional energy source, especially in countries phasing out coal. Gas is a fossil fuel, emitting both carbon dioxide and methane, the latter across the entire supply chain.
