This document sets out the Living Rivers Europe coalition’s position on the targeted revision of the Water Framework Directive (WFD), ahead of discussions at the upcoming Common Implementation Strategy meeting on 16 April 2026 in Brussels. It outlines key concerns regarding potential weakening of core water protections, highlights the importance of safeguarding water quality for public health and ecosystems, and calls for transparent, evidence-based decision-making that prioritises the public interest over short-term industrial pressures.
