{"id":25311,"date":"2017-06-26T20:01:49","date_gmt":"2017-06-26T18:01:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/eeb.org\/?p=25311"},"modified":"2017-07-14T12:22:14","modified_gmt":"2017-07-14T10:22:14","slug":"energy-ministers-weaken-eu-energy-efficiency-measures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/fr\/energy-ministers-weaken-eu-energy-efficiency-measures\/","title":{"rendered":"Energy ministers weaken EU energy savings obligation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><strong>Energy ministers in the EU Council today confirmed 30% energy efficiency target, but weakened the key energy saving measure to deliver it. <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>A meeting of EU energy ministers in Luxembourg today represented the last opportunity for the Maltese Presidency to achieve an ambitious Council position on the 2030 energy efficiency framework.<\/p>\n<p><em>The EEB is Europe\u2019s largest network of environmental organisations with 141 members in 33 countries.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The meeting took place only days after EU governments reaffirmed their commitment to swiftly and fully implementing the Paris Agreement. [1]<\/p>\n<p>While the ministers confirmed the 30% energy efficiency headline target, they moved forward with plans to lower the annual energy savings obligation (Article 7 of the Directive) from 1.5%, as proposed by the European Commission, to 1%.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement left only a fraction of the original and more ambitious proposal by the European Commission.
