The European Union stands at a pivotal moment to shape a future where public health, social justice, and a climate and environment-friendly economy coexist.<\/p>\n

Despite advancements in health and environmental policies, hazardous chemicals are still found in our water, food, air, everyday products, and bodies. They compromise our health, causing illness, infertility, cognitive impairment, and even premature death, with disproportionate impacts on women, children, and future generations.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As an MEP, you have a unique opportunity to address this crisis by ensuring that the EU commits to a toxic-free and socially just green transition, and supports the European industry in leading the way in the innovation of safe and non-toxic chemicals, products, and practices. \u00a0<\/p>\n

By signing this Pledge, you undertake, during your mandate, to defend:<\/p>\n\t\t\t

A future-proof chemicals policy<\/h3>

Swiftly phase-out harmful chemicals and revise REACH to close existing gaps in the legislation and to better protect health and the environment, in line with the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t

Transparency and traceability of chemicals<\/h3>

Promote greater knowledge and understanding of chemicals used in production processes and found in consumer products, fostering a toxic-free circular economy.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t

A holistic ‘One Planet, One Health’ approach<\/h3>

Ensure that climate, biodiversity and pollution actions are addressed holistically. I will make sure that EU efforts to reduce carbon emissions and energy use and eliminate toxic chemicals complement each other, advocating for a coordinated legislative approach.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t

Phase out of forever chemicals (PFAS)<\/h3>

Back the phase out of all-non-essential uses of forever pollutants, recognising their long-term impact on health and the environment.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t

Strengthened access to justice and accountability<\/h3>

Support comprehensive provisions for access to justice, remediation and compensation for individuals affected by chemical pollution and ensure polluters are held accountable.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t

Inherently safe and sustainable chemicals, materials and products<\/h3>

Advocate for the EU industry to lead on innovation by substituting the most harmful chemicals and developing safe and sustainable chemicals, materials, and products from the drawboard.<\/p>\t\t\n\t\t\t

End EU-banned chemicals exports<\/h3>
