This joint letter, addressed to Ursula von der Leyen and endorsed by eight European NGOs, directly challenges a recent press release by the European Commission that suggests that wolves pose a significant danger to humans and livestock.<\/p>\n
The truth is that wolves do not pose a risk to people and are a crucial component of healthy ecosystems in the EU. The EU offers significant support to prevent economic damage caused by wolves, as well as tools to mitigate any costs borne as a result of them.<\/p>\n
As head of the European Commission, President von der Leyen has a duty to not parrot flawed claims made by right-wing factions of the European Parliament targeting the wolf – a new victim in this culture war on nature.
