Green Corruption Prevention and the Implementation of the ECD

On the deadline for transposition of the new Environmental Crime Directive, the EEB publishes a policy paper analysing how corruption prevention and enforcement are addressed within the Environmental Crime Directive, identifying the significant gaps that remain, and highlighting the need for national legislators, investigators and judicial authorities to integrate considerations from anti-corruption legislation into its implementation. As Member States’ national ministries transpose and apply the Environmental Crime Directive, will need to pay particular attention to address corruption risks that undermine environmental protection.
