It is an early contribution to the debate.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The key strengths of the proposals are:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <b>Implementing the waste hierarchy<\/b>: promoting technology which is higher in the waste hierarchy with access to more modulation possibilities (which may de facto mean that a packaging solution has interest to apply for the most rewarding scenario e.g. in case a compostable material which is also recyclable, it will prefer going for the recyclable scenario as it has the potential to benefit from more modulation options)<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <b>A simple criteria based model<\/b>: a dynamic system organised around a limited set of key criteria defined at EU level, clearly more enforceable than current standards, and with systematic requirements for quantitative and qualitative prevention as well as separate collection;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <b>Neutrality with regards materials and technology<\/b>: to allow different packaging technologies to develop irrespective of their material.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <b>Supporting high quality secondary markets for packaging: <\/b>to help promote and stabilise a market for recyclates, as well as a more transparent system with regards chemicals contents supporting toxic free and high quality supply chains.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u25cf <b>Using EPR fee structures and revenues as an instrument to incentivise system change<\/b>, pulling packaging design towards waste prevention and providing investments through a \u201cFund for Change\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"featured_media":101190,"template":"","library_category":[422,425,414],"library_tags":[456],"class_list":["post-113538","library","type-library","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","library_category-circular-economy","library_category-fact-sheets","library_category-resource-efficiency","library_tags-position"],"acf":[],"jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/library\/113538","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/library"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/library"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/101190"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=113538"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"library_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/library_category?post=113538"},{"taxonomy":"library_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/eeb.org\/de\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/library_tags?post=113538"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
