Last updated: 10 Juni 2026 · Data compiled by the EEB network and partners.

This online tracker, produced by the European Environmental Bureau (EEB) and its national partners, provides an overview of how EU Member States are progressing with the transposition of the revised Ambient Air Quality Directive (AAQD). It aims to highlight good practices, identify gaps and risks, and support constructive dialogue with national authorities, EU institutions, civil society organisations and the public.

Building on the expertise of national environmental and health organisations across Europe, the AAQD Transposition Tracker monitors national progress towards the Directive’s transposition deadline. It provides an evidence-based overview of legislative developments, public participation processes, implementation planning, and key provisions related to air quality governance, monitoring, enforcement, access to justice and compensation for health damage.

The tracker also assesses the level of ambition and transparency of national transposition processes, helping to identify where Member States are strengthening protections for public health and the environment, and where further action may be needed to ensure effective implementation of the Directive.
