Large scale soil degradation, climate change, biodiversity loss, ageing farming population, chronically low farm incomes… The EU agriculture sector is facing multiple environmental and socio-economic crises. Policy measures have so far largely tackled these issues in silos, with little success. Systemic change is required to address these challenges comprehensively. Is carbon farming part of the answer?
To launch its new report “Carbon Farming for Climate, Nature, and Farmers”, the EEB is organising an online discussion on the science, practice, and policy sides of carbon farming with top experts, farmers, and decisionmakers.
Agenda:
10:30 Introduction
10:35 Presentation of the EEB climate pathway in agriculture: Dr Bérénice Dupeux, EEB Senior Agriculture Policy Officer
10:40 Presentation of Carbon farming recommendations: Célia Nyssens, EEB Agriculture Policy Officer
10:50 Science and practice panel: ‘Nature-based solutions in agriculture’
