SUPPLY CHA!NGE European Round Table Report

Unrecognizable people on the street during political meeting, audience from behind, selective focus and retro toned image with lens flare.

The SUPPLY CHA!NGE project aims to improve labour conditions in countries of the global South and reduce environmental damage along the food supply chains. The project is especially targeting store brand food products sold in European supermarkets, striving to make them greener and fairer.

In order to achieve our goals, we started a dialogue at national level with retailers, policy makers and CSOs in order to set the base of a common understanding of food supply chains.  The 20th of June we continued this dialogue with the different stakeholders at European level. We organised the European Round Table of the SUPPLY CHA!NGE in Brussels, where we counted among others with the participation of Professor Surya Deva, the current vice-chairperson of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights, who delivered the speech “Tainted Food: Moving Beyond ‘the Consumer is the King’ Narrative” about the importance and challenges of implementing Business and Human Rights. We had two MEPs in the morning panel: Pascal Durand and Heidi Hautala and other MEP in the afternoon panel: Florent Marcellesi. You can see the impression of the event here: #EU_SUPPLYCHAINGE
